Kwibohora30: Hon. Minister Shava hails Rwanda’s resilience

FOREIGN Affairs and International Trade minister Frederick Shava has commended Rwanda for turning its adversities into a success story through its robust national healing and economic transformation programmes which have seen the country become a role model for the rest of Africa.

Speaking during the 30th anniversary celebration of Rwanda's National Liberation Day in Harare on Friday, Shava said, "We look back with admiration and applaud the positive steps that have been taken by the government and people of Rwanda towards national healing and sustained economic transformation.

"Rwanda has stood with Zimbabwe through difficult times, Zimbabwe will continue to stand with Rwanda in its fight to correct the externally-driven distortions of history and in restoring the dignity of its people.

"The remarkable success of your flagship programmes are a shining example to us all,” he added.

In 1994, Rwanda experienced genocide against Tusti. Rwanda President Paul Kagame managed to stop the genocide and has over the years reconciled the warring ethnic groups.

Shava also expressed gratitude for Rwanda's donation of 1000 metric tonnes of maize to help Zimbabwe stave off hunger.

“This donation will go a long way in reducing food and nutrition deficit among our affected communities. We will forever remember this generous donation which has come from our dear brothers and sisters from Rwanda. This donation will go a long way in reducing food and nutrition deficit among our affected communities. We will forever remember this generous donation.”
